About the group
SAFE & Supported is a weekly group for moms of young children. Each week we look at one topic together, then open up the floor so moms can share what is working, what is hard, and what they need.
The group is led by a licensed clinical social worker who works with parents of young children and is raising two young children of her own. You will learn skills and strategies for balancing the demands of parenting while holding on to your own identity.
Topics we will cover
-
The mental load
-
Identity beyond motherhood
-
Relationships after kids
-
Setting boundaries
-
And more, based on what the group brings up
Who this group is for
Moms of young children. There is no age cutoff, and the group will feel most useful for moms with children between birth and 5 years old.
You may want to join if you are
-
Feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or isolated
-
Looking for warm, in person support from people who get it
-
Ready to learn new ways to handle the stress that comes with parenting
-
Just looking for a reason to get out of the house
What a session looks like
Each 90 minute session starts with 30 to 45 minutes on the week's topic, led by our facilitator. The rest of the time is open discussion, where moms support one another and share resources.
If you need something the group can't cover, we can connect you with other SAFE services and community resources, including diapers and clinical support.
