< Back James Taylor Member James relocated to Massachusetts over 30 years ago, where he excelled in a variety of operational roles, cultivating a comprehensive understanding of business management and customer service. After two decades, he transitioned to real estate, establishing his own brokerage firm. This transition helped James empathize with and address the nuanced needs of individuals. James is a passionate advocate for community well-being, recognizing the critical need for accessible support systems. He believes every individual deserves a safe and supportive environment to address addiction, mental health, and other challenges, whether personally or within their family. His commitment to SAFE Coalition stems from a deep dedication to creating a safer and more inclusive community for all.

< Back Reed Reynolds Member Reed Reynolds lives in Wrentham, MA, with his wife and two children. He holds a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He has been sober for 15 years and has dedicated much of his spare time to mentoring other men, helping them get sober, and helping them reintegrate into society. Reed has also supported and worked with various nonprofits, including World Help, Teen Challenge, and Hope for Life International. Before joining the board, he volunteered with SAFE coalition, working with teens in a mentorship program. Professionally, Reed is a Global Account Executive at Freshworks, where he brings a wealth of experience in sales, strategy, and business development.

< Back Mikaela Weinstein Diversion Clinician mweinstein@safecoalitionma.org Mikaela graduated from Saint Anselm College in 2022 with a B.A. in Social Work and double minor in Criminal Justice and Sociology. Right after completing her undergraduate studies, she worked for Youth Village’s LifeSet Program in Boston, MA, for just under a year before returning to school. Mikaela graduated with her Masters in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Saint Anselm College in May of 2024. Since then, she has worked part-time as an adjunct professor at Saint Anselm College in the Criminal Justice Department, teaching courses in both Crisis Intervention and Theories of Crime. Additionally, she is a part-time intake worker for juvenile court diversion programs in both Manchester and Nashua, New Hampshire.

Teens ages 13–18 can join Back to Life, a free 6-week theater program where they'll perform an original play about harm reduction and learn life-saving overdose prevention skills. Limited spots — register by April 1. Back to Life: Youth Theater Project A free youth theater program that builds confidence, creativity, and life-saving knowledge. Register About the Program Back to Life: Youth Theater Project is a free, 6-week theater program for teens brought to you by SAFE and Drug Story Theater. Participants rehearse and perform an original 20-minute play that opens an honest conversation about the dangers lurking in recreational drug use today — particularly fentanyl and xylazine contamination. The program runs for five Thursday afternoon sessions in April, where participants rehearse the play, build their skills, and prepare for the stage. It wraps up with a public performance on May 7, open to families, friends, and community members, followed by a talkback session with Dr. Joseph Shrand, an expert in adolescent addiction. No theater experience is needed! This program is open to any teen interested in creative expression — whether they want to be on stage or help behind the scenes with lighting, sound, or stage setup. All are welcome! Ages : 13–18 Dates : Thursdays, April 2–May 7, 2026 Time : 3:00–5:00 PM Location : SAFE Adolescent Wellness Center Cost : Free — snacks and drinks provided Spots Available : Limited to 15 participants Registration Deadline : April 1, 2026 Participants will Develop theater and performance skills with experienced facilitators in a supportive, encouraging environment Take on a real community leadership role — educating audiences about overdose prevention and helping destigmatize Narcan Learn how to recognize the signs of an overdose and how to reverse one using Narcan Explore the brain science behind adolescent addiction and gain a deeper understanding of why these issues matter Program Details Register A Note for Parents & Guardians This program addresses mature themes including substance use and overdose. All content is presented in an age-appropriate, educational context focused on harm reduction and life-saving information. Compass Yoga with Brittany Capozzi Time: 8:30–9:30 a.m. Location: SAFE Office Date: Saturdays This therapeutic yoga series focuses on sensation awareness, emotional presence, and nervous system regulation. Using trauma-responsive teaching methods, Brittany creates a safe space where invitational language and personal choice help you reconnect with your authentic self and build self-agency in your healing journey. Why ‘Compass’? Like a compass, each person has a range of directions available to them. Holding a small compass at the start of class serves as a grounding tool to help practitioners stay present and attuned to their own inner direction through something tangible. Here's what to expect: Tips, exercises, and meditation to calm your mind, balance your nervous system, and improve your sleep Gentle stretches and restorative poses to restore your sense of control, increase mind-body connection, and help manage stress symptoms Props and modifications that make this class perfect for everyone—no experience needed! Register Meet your Instructor As a Certified Yoga Therapist, Brittany utilizes breath, movement, and guided rest to support those who are dealing with the effects of trauma. She has been teaching people tools to reintroduce their mind to their bodies through yoga for over ten years. She uses trauma-responsive language to help practitioners and clients rebuild resiliency in the nervous system. She believes everyone deserves to be able to express who they are without being stuck in trauma; there are choices for how we can move forward. When appropriate, she uses her Trust Fall Writing method and belly dance teaching tools—such as the hip scarf and/or veil—to teach individuals about sensory awareness. Her educational toolbox only keeps evolving: She is a certified Rest and Revitalization Sleep Meditation teacher, taught by iRest’s co-founder Anne Douglas; a certified Laughter Yoga Leader, taught by Master Trainers Bill and Linda Hamaker; and a Warriors at Ease Level 1 Certified Teacher. When she’s not teaching or writing, she’s breaking geodes open with her husband and enjoying their orange and black Halloween cats. Did you know? < Back Meaghan Peters Director of Development mpeters@safecoalitionma.org Meaghan is the Director of Development at SAFE Coalition. Since beginning her fundraising career in 2013 in Pasadena, CA, she has raised critical support for human service organizations at both the national and grassroots levels, including the American Lung Association, Perkins School for the Blind, the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, and SAFE. At SAFE, Meaghan leads private fundraising strategy, overseeing corporate partnerships, family philanthropy, and monthly giving, while directing the organization’s signature gala. She focuses on building meaningful donor relationships, aligning philanthropic investment with mission impact, and translating SAFE’s work into compelling narratives that inspire sustained support. Outside of work, you’ll find her reading, spending time outdoors with her family and hiking with her dog.

< Back AJ McCormick Executive Assistant amccormick@safecoalitionma.org AJ holds a B.A. and M.A. in English, specializing in Technical Communication and Rhetoric. With experience in nonprofits, higher education, document and graphic design, and journalism, she has a keen understanding of communication challenges and actively studies and practices creating engaging and accessible content. In addition to content creation, AJ has served as project director/co-director for multiple grants and written/co-written/edited multiple awarded grants. She has worked as the Assistant Director for the Center for the Study of the American West and was an English Instructor at West Texas A&M University, teaching first-year writing and advanced composition, technical communication, and introduction to literature, while also teaching faculty how to use different technologies in the classroom. As a researcher, she’s presented on topics ranging from Ecofeminism to Universal Design. Eventually, she decided to leave academia to dedicate her talents towards helping others, and thus found SAFE. AJ was drawn to SAFE’s warm, positive environment, and every day she learns from and is inspired by SAFE’s work. She enjoys studying and creating recipes, birdwatching, and learning.

< Back Wendy Cohen, MD President I am a family physician and have been providing primary care in Southeastern New England for the past 14 years. I currently practice at, and co-own, Infinity Family Care in Mansfield, MA and live in Foxboro with my husband and two children. Over the years, I have witnessed the effects of opioid addiction on our communities and the practice of medicine, as well as the terrible toll this disease takes on individuals and their families. I am thrilled to have connected with the SAFE Coalition to be able to help educate more of our community and provide better support and resources for my patients and their families. I have a particular interest in increasing awareness about Narcan and improving its availability to any potential bystander to an overdose.
