< Back AJ McCormick Executive Assistant amccormick@safecoalitionma.org AJ holds a B.A. and M.A. in English, specializing in Technical Communication and Rhetoric. With experience in nonprofits, higher education, document and graphic design, and journalism, she has a keen understanding of communication challenges and actively studies and practices creating engaging and accessible content. In addition to content creation, AJ has served as project director/co-director for multiple grants and written/co-written/edited multiple awarded grants. She has worked as the Assistant Director for the Center for the Study of the American West and was an English Instructor at West Texas A&M University, teaching first-year writing and advanced composition, technical communication, and introduction to literature, while also teaching faculty how to use different technologies in the classroom. As a researcher, she’s presented on topics ranging from Ecofeminism to Universal Design. Eventually, she decided to leave academia to dedicate her talents towards helping others, and thus found SAFE. AJ was drawn to SAFE’s warm, positive environment, and every day she learns from and is inspired by SAFE’s work. She enjoys studying and creating recipes, birdwatching, and learning.

< Back Richard Alberts Member Rick has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Suffolk University. Recently retired Rick spent over 40 years in Finance and Human Resource management including almost 15 years at Putnam Investments. Rick served on various client advisory boards and was a frequent speaker at conferences. He was elected to the Franklin Town Council in the early 90’s where he served 2 terms. Volunteered as a youth coach and served on local youth and high school boards. Currently you can hear Rick as the voice of the Franklin Panthers announcer on local cable TV. He has been involved with previous fundraising events serving as the co-chair on a scholarship committee. Rick is married to Audrey and has 2 children Kristen and Tim along with 2 grandkids Kinsley and Griffin.

< Back Mikaela Weinstein Diversion Clinician mweinstein@safecoalitionma.org Mikaela graduated from Saint Anselm College in 2022 with a B.A. in Social Work and double minor in Criminal Justice and Sociology. Right after completing her undergraduate studies, she worked for Youth Village’s LifeSet Program in Boston, MA, for just under a year before returning to school. Mikaela graduated with her Masters in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Saint Anselm College in May of 2024. Since then, she has worked part-time as an adjunct professor at Saint Anselm College in the Criminal Justice Department, teaching courses in both Crisis Intervention and Theories of Crime. Additionally, she is a part-time intake worker for juvenile court diversion programs in both Manchester and Nashua, New Hampshire.

< Back Meaghan Peters Director of Development mpeters@safecoalitionma.org Meaghan is the Director of Development at SAFE Coalition. Since beginning her fundraising career in 2013 in Pasadena, CA, she has raised critical support for human service organizations at both the national and grassroots levels, including the American Lung Association, Perkins School for the Blind, the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, and SAFE. At SAFE, Meaghan leads private fundraising strategy, overseeing corporate partnerships, family philanthropy, and monthly giving, while directing the organization’s signature gala. She focuses on building meaningful donor relationships, aligning philanthropic investment with mission impact, and translating SAFE’s work into compelling narratives that inspire sustained support. Outside of work, you’ll find her reading, spending time outdoors with her family and hiking with her dog.

< Back Brian Hamlin Treasurer I am a family business owner, parent of three great children, husband to my wife Robin and know first hand the overwhelming circumstances a family can go through with addiction. It all started with a simple shoulder surgery. Since 2004 we have experienced the brutal life that substance abuse can lead you to. I have been doing public speaking now over 5 years on the trial and tribulations of substance abuse and the toll it can take on a family and friends. More importantly I speak openly to help others understand that feeling of being the ONLY one this is happening to. I wanted to do more in our community for substance abuse and driving down Rte 1 one day I saw a billboard for SAFE Coalition. I didn’t hesitate.

< Back Cobi Frongillo Member Cobi Frongillo (he/him) is a Franklin Town Councilor, committed to community connectedness and people-oriented service. After graduating from Franklin High School, Cobi received dual bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Economics, with an environmental science minor, from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He went on to receive his Master’s in Public Policy the following year. Cobi advocates for future generations as a policy researcher for the Massachusetts Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities, and Energy. He believes deeply in the SAFE Coalition's work and strives to support the mission in any way he can.

< Back Chavelyn Santana Director of Collaborative Care csantana@safecoalitionma.org Chavelyn graduated with her bachelor’s in science, in psychology. She experienced how individuals and families in need of support become marginalized. Chavelyn’s faith, passion, and sense of community are her driving force! Through Lasell University Chavelyn completed Research studies and co-authored “Affective judgement of social touch on a hand associated with hand embodiment”, which allowed her the opportunity to work with a multigenerational population. Chavelyn has completed internships at the Dept. of Children and Families, and BMC Adult Probation in Boston. She worked alongside with children, teens, and adults in their hardest and happiest moments. Chavelyn transitioned to Riverside Community Care and in various roles provided administrative and community support to the large community we worked with. Both in her professional and personal experiences has led her to the importance of empathy, connection, and empowerment to individuals in need. Believing in the mission of SAFE, Chavelyn is ready to provide a helping hand!

< Back Mary Clermont Vice President Mary is a business leader with hands-on and strategic experience in Human Resources across multiple industries. Connecting employee and community experience, her career started as an officer in the US Army. As a graduate of West Point, she focuses on elevating the employee experience to ensure a community and culture that provides inclusiveness and wellbeing. Her versatility is based on the prior roles in organizations she was a part of; Military, Putnam Investments, Pizza Hut and Fidelity. Mary also currently serves on the Board of the Hockomock area YMCA, serving as Chair 2018-2021.

Compass Yoga with Brittany Capozzi Time: 8:30–9:30 a.m. Location: SAFE Office Date: Saturdays This therapeutic yoga series focuses on sensation awareness, emotional presence, and nervous system regulation. Using trauma-responsive teaching methods, Brittany creates a safe space where invitational language and personal choice help you reconnect with your authentic self and build self-agency in your healing journey. Why ‘Compass’? Like a compass, each person has a range of directions available to them. Holding a small compass at the start of class serves as a grounding tool to help practitioners stay present and attuned to their own inner direction through something tangible. Here's what to expect: Tips, exercises, and meditation to calm your mind, balance your nervous system, and improve your sleep Gentle stretches and restorative poses to restore your sense of control, increase mind-body connection, and help manage stress symptoms Props and modifications that make this class perfect for everyone—no experience needed! Register Meet your Instructor As a Certified Yoga Therapist, Brittany utilizes breath, movement, and guided rest to support those who are dealing with the effects of trauma. She has been teaching people tools to reintroduce their mind to their bodies through yoga for over ten years. She uses trauma-responsive language to help practitioners and clients rebuild resiliency in the nervous system. She believes everyone deserves to be able to express who they are without being stuck in trauma; there are choices for how we can move forward. When appropriate, she uses her Trust Fall Writing method and belly dance teaching tools—such as the hip scarf and/or veil—to teach individuals about sensory awareness. Her educational toolbox only keeps evolving: She is a certified Rest and Revitalization Sleep Meditation teacher, taught by iRest’s co-founder Anne Douglas; a certified Laughter Yoga Leader, taught by Master Trainers Bill and Linda Hamaker; and a Warriors at Ease Level 1 Certified Teacher. When she’s not teaching or writing, she’s breaking geodes open with her husband and enjoying their orange and black Halloween cats. Did you know?
