< Back Alan Benjamin Member Alan Benjamin is a highly accomplished banking executive and community leader with over 14 years of industry expertise. As the head of operations and business development for Bluestone Bank in Mansfield, Massachusetts, Alan drives strategic business growth while passionately mentoring and developing his team. Deeply invested in the region, Alan’s impactful leadership extends well beyond the branch. He lends his strategic expertise to several local boards, serving as a board member for the Mansfield Rotary Club, New Hope Inc., Bristol Community College, the Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce, and the Greater Attleboro Stronger Together Alliance, as well as the YMCA Board of Incorporators. A staunch advocate for community empowerment, Alan frequently facilitates financial education programs at MCI Norfolk, the SAFE Coalition Inc., and High School Credit for Life events. He also leads senior fraud prevention seminars across multiple municipalities and volunteers his time with the Special Olympics as an assistant coach, Habitat for Humanity, the Attleboro Literacy Center, local food pantries, and the Attleboro Arts Museum. Originally from Guyana (South America) and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Alan has proudly called New England home for the past 18 years, spending 15 of them in Attleboro. He has been happily married to his wife, Nanda, for 25 years, and they are the proud parents of two sons, Daniel and Noah, who attend Attleboro High School.

For International Overdose Awareness Day, SAFE will be holding community vigils in Franklin and Wrentham, and places memorial flag displays across Norfolk county. < Back Wendy Cohen, MD President I am a family physician and have been providing primary care in Southeastern New England for the past 14 years. I currently practice at, and co-own, Infinity Family Care in Mansfield, MA and live in Foxboro with my husband and two children. Over the years, I have witnessed the effects of opioid addiction on our communities and the practice of medicine, as well as the terrible toll this disease takes on individuals and their families. I am thrilled to have connected with the SAFE Coalition to be able to help educate more of our community and provide better support and resources for my patients and their families. I have a particular interest in increasing awareness about Narcan and improving its availability to any potential bystander to an overdose.

Front Desk & Community Engagement Manager Position Title: Front Desk & Community Engagement Manager Job Type: Part-Time (20 hours per week) Schedule: Monday–Friday; occasional evenings or weekends as needed Location: Franklin with occasional travel in southeastern Massachusetts Pay: $22/hour Position Summary The Front Desk & Community Engagement Manager ensures the heart of SAFE’s operations—the front desk of our headquarters in Franklin—runs smoothly, consistently, and compassionately. This position oversees daily front desk operations and manages the volunteers and interns who serve as the first point of contact for clients and community members. A key responsibility of this role is mentoring and supervising high school and college interns and first-time volunteers while fostering an environment of professionalism, accountability, and personal growth. The FDCE Manager helps these team members understand that while their contributions are unpaid, their presence and reliability are vital to SAFE’s mission and to the individuals who rely on our services. The ideal candidate is thoughtful, organized, self-motivated, and patient, with the ability to balance empathy and structure in a fast-paced, client-facing environment. < Back Ann Bergen President Dr. Anne Bergen has had a career in education spanning nearly fifty years. As a former teacher, principal and chair of the Franklin School Committee, her focus has been on the emotional health and well-being of young people. Anne represents SAFE on the Mental Health and Well-Being Task Force of the Franklin Public Schools. She co-hosts, with Jim Derick, a radio/podcast for SAFE, with a focus on having individuals share their stories of hope and recovery. As a member of the Franklin Community Cable Access Board of Directors, she has promoted the mission of SAFE, and as a Board of Managers volunteer at the Bernon Family Branch of the Hockomock YMCA she has worked to promote the charitable causes that are essential to the well-being of individuals and families in our communities.

Part-time Classroom SEL Teacher SAFE is seeking a part-time Classroom SEL Teacher to teach classes for teens impacted by substance use as an alternative to traditional 10-day school suspension. This social-emotional based curriculum supports youth outside of their tradiational academic setting to enhance learning and substance use awareness. Each session is 3 days and enrolls up to 5 students (grades 9–12). This role is based at our Franklin, MA office. Qualifications Undergraduate or graduate degree in Education/Sociology/Psychology OR 3 years within the public education/social services field Experience working with youth Background in leadership roles Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Valid driver’s license and available, dependable transportation. Background in Social Emotional Learning modalities Key Responsibilities Provide substance use education using a set curriculum focused on restorative justice, substance use, and healthy decision-making. Create a safe, trusting, and therapeutic classroom environment. The Classroom facilitator should feel confident working with teens and discussing topics such as community issues, substance misuse, mental health, and environmental risks.
